Biography

Mr. Fultz is a retired Partner from KPMG LLP (KPMG) with more than 30 years of experience advising public company boards, audit committees, and executive leadership teams on financial reporting, governance, and risk management. His tenure at KPMG included serving as a Lead Audit Partner or SEC Reviewing Partner for more than 25 public companies, providing guidance on complex transactions, including initial public offerings, acquisitions, and capital markets activities. Mr. Fultz served as a Business Unit Professional Practice Partner, where he oversaw audit quality and risk management across a multi-office practice and advised on significant accounting, regulatory, and compliance matters. He also held leadership roles as Office Managing Partner in Louisville, Kentucky and the National Restaurant Segment Leader, demonstrating a strong track record in market leadership, client development, and team management. In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Fultz has significant board and governance experience through his service on nonprofit and advisory boards, including Louisville’s Fund for the Arts, Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, Greater Louisville Inc.’s Finance Committee and the Advisory Board of the University of Louisville School of Accountancy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Louisville and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Fultz brings deep expertise in public company accounting and auditing, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management to the First Merchants’ Board and Audit Committee, along with seasoned judgment and a practical, governance-focused perspective.
